Camera scope. We run the line, note pipe material and condition, and find the blockage and any root entry points.
Go or no-go call. If the pipe is too damaged for high pressure, we stop, show you the footage, and review repair options.
Nozzle and pressure selection. We match the nozzle head and pressure to the pipe size, material, and buildup type.
Jetting the line. We feed the hose to the far end and pull back, so debris flushes toward the main rather than into your home.
Root cutting where needed. Where roots have formed a mat, we cut first and jet after.
Follow-up camera pass. We rescope so you can see the bare pipe wall and confirm the line is clear.

Hydro jetting is a drain-cleaning method that uses high-pressure water to scour buildup off the inside wall of a pipe. A hose with a specialized nozzle is fed into the line, and jets of water cut grease, scale, sludge, and roots loose. The debris flushes downstream toward the sewer main; unlike a cable machine, which bores a channel through a clog, jetting restores the pipe to close to its full inside diameter.

Is hydro jetting safe for older San Diego pipes?

Hydro jetting is safe for sound pipe, and risky for pipe that has already failed. Plenty of San Diego homes still run cast iron or clay laterals, and some postwar homes have Orangeburg. Cast iron with heavy scale and Orangeburg that has gone out of round can be damaged by high pressure. That is why we scope the line first and adjust or stop based on what the camera shows.

How often should a San Diego home need hydro jetting?

Most homes do not need jetting on a set schedule. Homes with mature trees over the lateral often benefit from a pass every 1 to 2 years, since roots regrow. Does hydro jetting remove tree roots?

Yes. Jetting with a root-cutting nozzle clears root mats out of a sewer lateral and cleans the pipe wall behind them. Jetting does not close the crack or joint the roots came in through. The follow-up camera pass shows those entry points. Keeping roots out usually takes a spot repair or a liner.

Who pays for a sewer lateral blockage in San Diego?

The property owner does. The City of San Diego treats the whole lateral as private property and the owner’s job to maintain. That runs from the building to the connection at the city main under the street. It holds even where the blockage sits under the sidewalk.
